The Latest on the Cubs

South Coast Conference baseball coaches recognized three Cubs for All-SCC Honorable Mention honors.

Freshman outfielder Nathan Metroka was a bright light and a future hope for the Cubs. In 36 games this season, Metroka batted .328 while finishing third in total plate appearances with 139. He led the team in home runs, triples, and RBI's with five, four, and 29, respectively. He was third for the Cubs in stolen bases with 12, while finishing second overall in total hits with 42.

Freshman shortstop Selwyn B. Young was a steady influence on offense and defense. In leading the Cubs with 44 hits in 161 plate appearances, Young batted .317 in 39 games. He was second in RBI's with 20, fourth in doubles with six, and fourth in runs scored with 17.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Oscar Campos had a 5.81 ERA in 10 starts and led the Cubs in innings pitched with 62. His 20 strikeouts were enough for second best among the Cub pitching corp.
